NYX Nude on Nude Natural Look Kit REVIEW and Makeup tip!

So I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who finds that the bottom eyeliner that's applied at the beginning of the day, doesn't look as immaculate by the end of the day. I have tried so many different eyeliners and none of them seem to do the trick.

I'm not too adventurous when it comes to eye liner and end up using it until it runs out and then end up buying the same one again even though it gave me panda eyes! I'm not entirely sure why I do this... The eyeliner I'm currently using is the Maybelline EyeStudio Lasting Gel Eyeliner in 01 Black. Now, I usually line my top waterline and then bring the remaining liner left on the eyeliner brush along my bottom lashes. This usually looks pretty good in the morning when I apply it (most of the time) but by lunch time, it has left me with dark smudges underneath my eyes! Argh!

So I decided to put an end to this and instead of black eyeliner, I use eyeshadow to line my bottom lash line. I'm still using the gel liner to line my top lash line as that seems to stay put throughout the whole day. This isn't a new makeup trick or anything and I know it's probably a well known trick already but this also gives me an excuse to talk about this NYX eyeshadow palette that I've been loving! It's the Nude on Nude Natural Look Kit and I have honestly been using it every day since I got it. I take a flat eyeshadow brush and dab the tip into the chocolate brown eyeshadow (bottom right) and just press it lightly along my bottom lash line. By doing this, I now no longer get smudged liner!

Can you tell which is my favourite? :-)

Another way I wear this palette is by taking my ring finger and dipping it into the pinky pearly shade (great colour description right there! It's the middle left one incase you didn't understand my description!!) and applying it to the whole eyelid and then dab a little bit in the inner corners of my eye. This takes minimum effort but really brightens up your eyes especially when you have to get up early in the morning like me!

I bought it in TK Maxx a while ago and couldn't find the product on the NYX UK website, so I am guessing they may have discontinued it! But I did find a few on there that I like the look of and are quite similar to this one... This one is also another natural palette that would look pretty on the eyes for daily wear or the Love in Florence palette (how cute is the name of this palette?!) would look gorgeous too. You could create a natural look with the peachy coral colour and the shimmery taupes or you could create a smokey eye using the black - I think I may have just convinced myself to buy this!

Have you tried any of NYX's products?

Chelsea.

Healthy Berry and Mango Smoothie

As it is slowly creeping into Summer here in the UK... I thought it would be appropriate to start making fruit smoothies again. They are so healthy, quick and simple and taste so good!

So here it is...

Ingredients

  • A handful of frozen raspberries
  • A handful of frozen blueberries
  • 6-8 chunks of frozen mango
  • 2 cups of apple juice (of your choice!)
  • 8 small cubes of ice
  • 1 banana
I added all the ingredients into a blender and blended them all together until it was pretty much smooth and then added the ice cubes in last and blended it quickly again to maintain the coolness of the mixture.

You can use fresh fruit if you want, but I decided to go for frozen berries & mango so that the smoothie is extra cold and refreshing! It's also easier to keep bags of frozen fruit in the freezer and not have to worry about them going off :-)

I'm not going to lie, but I use different measurements of fruit every time I make a smoothie, mainly because I can't remember the exact measurements I used last time or I like trying out new mixtures. This one turned out to be lovely and refreshing, not too sweet and not too sour as some of my previous ones have turned out so I decided to share the recipe with you! :-)

Hope you're enjoying the sunshine and this refreshing drink!

Chelsea.

Clearing up acne prone skin!

So who else would love to know the "cure" to clearing up your skin? I have always had a problem with my skin since my teenage years, although it is getting better as I get older. No matter how many different types of creams, face washes, face masks I've tried (and there has been a lot, I can tell you!), I will still get little breakouts. Since trying out this method, my skin has been completely clear for over 3 weeks now, touch wood! (apart from a few hormonal breakouts which are normal)

Let me tell you... this green tea seems to have worked its magic on my skin and I couldn't be happier! Obviously, I still continue with my skincare regime and squeeze some time to do face masks as well - but the result of drinking this green tea at least twice a day has worked a dream!

If you're into skincare and health care in general, you will probably already know that green tea contains lots of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which will help prevent and reduce the number of breakouts you may have had previously. The one I used to drink was the pure green tea from a tea brand called Twinings (for those of you not in the UK!) and the one I am drinking now is from Kirkland. I find this one to be not as bitter as the Twinings one, which makes it a bit more bearable to drink! You can buy this here.

I have tried doing this before but didn't see the same results as I did this time. I'm not sure if it was because I was drinking a different brand of green tea or if I just stuck to it more consistently this time and saw results after just a week of drinking 2 cups of green tea a day!

Green tea originated from China and was used as a medicine to lower blood pressure and prevent Cancer. It is also known for a lot of other health benefits in the modern world:

1) It stimulates metabolism and can therefore help in weight loss by intensifying levels of fat oxidation - bonus!

2) It can also help reduce blood cholesterol.

3) Can also help prevent heart disease by preventing the formation of blood clots.

So what are you waiting for? If you're having trouble with your skin, I would definitely recommend you drink at least 2 cups of green tea a day and see if it gives you the same results as it did for me. Even if it doesn't, there are many other health benefits that would be an advantage!

Calvin Klein Push Positive Bra Review - Comfortable push up bras?!

For those of you who are... smaller chested like me, you need this bra in your life! I stumbled upon it completely by accident and it was an impulse purchase. I have always found it difficult to find a bra that is comfortable AND enhances my "assets" - look no further, this is the one. It is the comfiest bra I have ever tried - so comfortable that it doesn't even feel like you are wearing one at all! If you don't believe me, try it on and see for yourself!

Who else finds that the underwiring of bras dig into you?! The Calvin Klein Push Positive Bra I have discovered has no wire whatsoever but manages to push everything up! It is definitely a pricey bra but I bought both of mine from House of Fraser and they are currently having a sale bringing it from £42 to £33 :-)

They do quite a few colours so take a look...

Happy shopping!

Primark - affordable shoes!

I don't know about you, but I find that the most affordable purchases are always the most satisfying. Anyone agree with me on that one? My reasoning behind this is, that if you know you have purchased something over-priced, your expectations are a lot higher than if you paid pennies and expecting it to be "okay" and it pleasantly surprises you with how good it is! Okay, enough with all the psychology behind this...

So I went shopping the other day and decided to go into Primark for the first time in about half a year. The one in Stratford Westfield shopping centre has become my favourite one. NEVER go to the one on Regent Street in London unless you want to come out empty handed and more stressed than when you went in.

I was looking for some ballet pumps and had been searching around in places like Dune, Oasis, Topshop, Kurt Geiger... and found them to be so expensive! I just wanted a pair of pumps to wear everyday to and from work and just out and about at the weekends when I'm dressing casual.

And then I found THESE........ How cute are these?! (Yes, I know I was adventurous to buy the same style shoe in different colours!)

They were only £6 a pair and they are definitely a lot more comfortable than some pricey ballet pumps that I've tried. The quality is great given how much they cost and will probably last me a good amount of time. They will go with almost every outfit in Spring and I'm so glad I purchased them. So let this be a lesson to you all, the best buys aren't always the most expensive and highly regarded products. I have to admit, things in Primark can be a bit of a hit and miss but if you look hard enough, they are some pretty good finds in there!
